Our History
In 1992, A1 Tax Service was founded by Sue Allen and began serving Henderson as a locally owned income tax service firm.
Since 2001, Jason P. Perry, the current owner and President of A1 Tax Service, has worked for the company by providing tax and payroll services throughout the Tri-State.
Jason bought the company in 2012 and strived to provide convenient, reasonable, and accurate tax services to meet the needs of his clients.
In 2022, Jason and his wife April (Sue Allen’s daughter) continue to provide convenient, reasonable, and accurate services for their client base.
Please get in touch with Jason or April before dropping off any paperwork. Thank you!
The A1 Team
Jason PerryOwner & PresidentJason’s family moved to Henderson in 1989 when his father took a position with the Accuride Corporation. After completing high school and a short stint at the Henderson Community College, he moved to Fayetteville, Arkansas, where he attended the University of Arkansas. Jason moved back to Henderson in 1998 when he became engaged to his high school sweetheart April. Jason and April have two children, Abbie and Jake. Jason has held management positions with the Kmart and Wal-Mart Corporations and was a district sales rep for one of the nation’s largest food brokers, Cross Mark. Jason began work at A-1 in 2001 and purchased it in 2011. Since then, he has continued to provide the quality service and prices that A-1 has been known for in Henderson. In his spare time, April does event catering, and he also competes in professional BBQ contests in Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky.
Abigail PerryReceptionist Abigail started her career at A1 Tax Service in the summer of 2000. She was responsible for entertaining clients while they were waiting for Sue to complete work for them. She also provided stress relief through cuddling, smiling, and cooing. She left A1 to pursue her education at Methodist Hospital Preschool and East Heights Elementary. She returned in 2013 to her current position until 2018. She is now 21 and a senior at Murray State University and plans to graduate in May 2022 with a degree in Public Relations.
Jacob PerryCustodianJacob joined the A1 family in the Summer of 2003. He provided entertainment for clients and stress reduction for Jason and Sue as they went about their job duties. However, as tax season approached, it was time for him to make a career change. He left his position at A1 for an environment that provided more opportunities for movement. He graduated from Methodist Hospital Preschool in 2008 and East Heights Elementary in 2014. He rejoined A1 Tax Service in 2013 in his current position. Our hope is his job duties will help increase his appreciation of a clean home environment and the necessity of picking up after yourself. Jake is now studying engineering at Murray State University.
